Heart Attack Symptoms

Women experience heart disease symptoms differently from men. Learn the facts about your heart health and take action to reduce your risk for heart disease.

Women are likely to experience:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Extreme fatigue
  • Pain in the jaw, teeth, neck, arm or between the shoulder blades
  • Nausea
  • Anxiety
  • Sweating
  • Light-headedness

If you're a woman and you've experienced any of these signs, seek heart care as soon as possible. Heart disease is preventable, and much more treatable before a major emergency such as a heart attack.

Other common symptoms include:

  • Chest Pain, often described as:
    • crushing
    • heaviness
    • indigestion
    • burning
    • squeezing
    • aching
    • pressure

If you or someone you know experiences any of these symptoms, chew and swallow one 325mg uncoated aspirin (unless medically unsafe) and call 911.
